RESOLUTION
Resolution

HONORING THE LIFE OF J. ROBERT LANDRETH, JR.
WHEREAS, James Robert Landreth, Jr., died Sunday, September 23, 2018 and was predeceased by his parents, James Robert Landreth, Sr., and Minnie Rankin Landreth; and

WHEREAS, as a Greensboro native and graduate of Greensboro Senior High School, Bob attended UNC-Chapel Hill and graduated with a degree in business. He served in the North Carolina National Guard for 20 years and retired honorably as a major; and

WHEREAS, Bob was a farmer, businessman, servicemen, and a proud Democrat. In 1974, he was elected to the Board of Guilford County Commissioners and subsequently became the chairman in 2004. He also served on numerous boards and commissions such as the Guilford County Planning Board, GTCC College Trustees, and the Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation. Bob was a member of both the McLeansville Lions and Wildlife Club; and

WHEREAS, Bob was well known and fondly remembered for his bi-partisan efforts, witty sense of humor, fiscal conservatism and effective advocacy for Guilford County’s rural community; and

WHEREAS, Bob is survived by his loving wife, Violet, his two children, James Robert Landreth, III, Julia Rachel Cromer, and two granddaughters, Sydney and Samantha.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Guilford County Board of Commissioners that it hereby expresses its appreciation and admiration for the life of J. Robert Landreth, Jr. and recognizes his many years of continued service and commitment on the Guilford County Board of Commissioners, his many contributions to the Guilford County community, and extends its deepest condolences to the Landreth family.
