BACKGROUND
Background
Guilford County Emergency Services completed the transition of the county's public safety radio system to the P25 protocol in March and entering final stages infrastructure upgrades including construction of the last radio tower needed to improve radio coverage throughout the county. In addition, the final payments on loans for radio replacements made by the County to the volunteer fire departments that serve its fire districts are due in FY 2018-19. At this time, the capital project ordiances for the three radio replacement/system upgrade projects need to be amended to allow Emergency Services to complete this work and to align projects with actual expenses. There are sufficient funds within the three projects and the radio replacement project expenses came in under the initial project total so no additional county building construction funds are required.
