BACKGROUND
Background
Microsoft Office suite is one of the core suite of applications used by entire County. Amoung other applications, it includes Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. We have been using the Office 365 cloud suite now for 3 years and have realized several key benefits. The Enterprise Agreeement includes all the required on-premise Server software used Countywide.
Over and above the benefit in cost savings of over $1000,000 during the term of this agreement as compared to purchasing retail licenses, County will continue to receive the following additional benefits:
Ability to provision Disaster Recovery in the Azure cloud
Access to all critical Production Servers on-premise including Windows Server, SQL Server etc
Staying current with the latest versions of Microsoft software
Access to Office for iPad
Cloud based document storage
Web based video conferencing using Skype for Business
Access to Office applications from anywhere
Up to 5 personal use licenses for each staff member.

Requested Action
Approve renewal of Microsoft Enterprise Agreement from SHI, in substantial form, (pricing and terms and conditions based on NC State contract 208C), in an annual amount of $1,059,485 per year for 3 years starting from October 1 2018 for a total cost of $3,178,455. Amount is budgeted in the FY 19 IS budget.
