BACKGROUND
Background
The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is in receipt of the 2018/2019 Governor’s Highway Safety Program Grant in the amount of $521,264 ($130,317.00 in Federal /State revenue and a local match of $390,947.00 which is shared between the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office $263,447.00 and the High Point Police Department $127,500.00) The DWI Taskforce Program grant funds are used for sustainment of the existing multi-agency DWI Taskforce program and the DWI Educator program. These program address traffic related issues such as unrestrained drivers, children, speeding, motorist driving while impaired and the community educational aspect of these issues as well. This is the 7th year of funding for this program.
The adopted budget included an estimate of grant funds and the county’s local match. The following changes are necessary to align the budget with the final grant award: increase Federal/State funds by $1; increase appropriated fund balance by $12,224 for adjusted county match; and increase the FY 2018-19 Law Enforcement budget by $12,225.
Board approval of the accompanying local government resolution for the grant is also necessary.
