BACKGROUND

Background

The Guilford County Sheriff's Office is in receipt of an increase for the 2017/2018 HIDTA Grant in the amount of $40,000.00.  These funds will be used for overtime, technology (phone/data cards), etc.and professional services (other law enforcement agency overtime/fringes for work on the taskforce.)  All HIDTA grant funds are for the sole purpose of  reducing drug trafficking and production in North Carolina. The original 2017/2018 Grant was approved by the Board of Commissioners on 8/03/2017 in the amount of $139,534.00.  The new TOTAL of this grant is $179,534.00.

REQUESTED ACTION

Requested Action

Approve the receipt of the 2018/2019 HIDTA grant funds in the amount of $40,000.00; and approve an increase of $40,000 in Federal/State Revenue and increase the FY 2018-19 Law Enforcement budget by the same amount to reflect appropriation of the grant funds.  These grant funds will be used for overtime, training, travel, and technology/communications cost for the Task Force and are in addition to anticipated carry-over funds already included in the adopted FY 2018-19 budget.
