BACKGROUND
Background
Guilford County competitively solicited bids for Phase II of the Hagan Stone Park Road Repairs Event #605. Phase II will include repairs on the main road from the entrance to the Campground Dogwood Road to the intersection at Pine Road. One lane of the road is to remain open at all times so the park will not be closed to visitors. Provide traffic control as required to allow safe access through the park during normal business hours. This phase will not begin until September 2018 after the pool is closed and take approximately 60 calendar days to complete from the Notice to Proceed. Alternate #1 was cost to start the project in the fall. Purchasing received 2 bid responses:
P&S Grading, LLC Base Bid $297,533.00 Alternate #1 $118,551.25 MWBE 12% $50,000.00
Ruston Paving Base Bid $287,356.00 Alternate #1 $108,162.00 MWBE 10% $39,700.00
Ruston Paving was the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder after bids were reviewed. We recommend award to Ruston Paving in the amount of :
$287,356.00 + $108,162.00 = $395,518.00
We also recommend 10% contingency for unforeseen conditions in the amount of $39,482.00 that will require prior approval by Guilford County.
