BACKGROUND

Background

Guilford County competitively solicited bids for Greene Street HVAC renovation as Event #608. The scope of work will include the contractor to provide all required labor, tools, materials and equipment for the selective demolition of the existing HVAC equipment, piping, and ductwork. Install new equipment with integral microprocessor controls, piping, and ductwork. On May 10, 2018 at 10:00 am a mandatory pre-bid meeting was held at the site. Guilford County received 2 bid responses for the project.

AirCon Carolina, Inc.                                          Base Bid - $279,897.00                                          MWBE Participation - 4.1% or $11,639.00

H.M. Kern Corp.                                          Base Bid - $363,000.00                                          MWBE Participation - 0%

AirCon Carolina was the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder after the bids were reviewed. We recommend award to AirCon Carolina, Inc. in the amount of $279,897.00 and due to the unforeseen conditions we recommend a 10% contingency in the amount of $28,000.00 that will require prior approval by Guilford County.
