BACKGROUND

background

In early 2010, the City and County began the process of moving the public safety 800 MHz trunked radio system to the P25 platform.  This migration required 7 years of capital investment by both parties on a 50/50 basis.  Phase 1 was to replace the "core" of the radio system or the controller.  This controller has capacity to link versus radio system in the triad together without the other municipalities re-investing in the technology.  A fee model was developed between City and County to offset our initial investment, while offering value to the adjacent systems.
