BACKGROUND
Background
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has chosen to recognize Guilford County with two (2) of its esteemed professional awards:
The Guilford County Budget, Management and Evaluation Department was awarded the "Distinguished Budget Presentation Award" in recognition of preparing budget documents of the highest quality that reflect best practices and principles established by the GFOA and the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting; and
The Guilford County Finance Department was awarded the "Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting" in recognition of preparing a comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) that encourages transparency and full governmental disclosure. This is the 36th consecutive year the County has received this award, which speaks to staff expertise and their dedication to effective and efficient government finance. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

Recognize Michael Halford and the Guilford County Budget Department staff on their achievement in attaining the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award; and Recognize Harley Will and the Guilford County Finance Department staff on their receipt of the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
