RESOLUTION
Resolution
WHEREAS, since 1924, the North Carolina A&T Aggies Football Team has had a long and storied past, but on Saturday, December 16, 2017, the Aggies made college football history going undefeated with 12-0 wins; and
WHEREAS, at the third edition of the Celebration Bowl, the Aggies took the Black College Football National Championship by incredibly defeating Grambling State, 21-14; and
WHEREAS, the North Carolina A&T Aggies are also the first team in history to win the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference with an undefeated record since its inception in 1971; and
WHEREAS, Together, with their unrelenting determination and spirit, the Aggies became the first Division I-AA black college football team to finish the entire season untied, undefeated, and shattering the school and conference record with their historic 12-0 wins; and
WHEREAS, Guilford County is duly proud of the North Carolina A&T Aggies for their tremendous accomplishments, and wishes to express its congratulations and appreciation to them.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners hereby proclaims FEBRUARY as:
“AGGIE PRIDE MONTH”
FURTHERMORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Guilford County Board of Commissioners does hereby recognize the substantial achievements of the North Carolina A&T Aggies Football Team on their outstanding victory, and hereby expresses its admiration and appreciation for the great pride and honor they have brought to our County as the 2017 Division I-AA and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Football Champions.
ADOPTED this the 15th day of February, 2018.
