BACKGROUND
Background
Over the past year, Guilford DHHS-DSS has been successful in meeting the federal benchmarks for timely processing of applications and recertifications in the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) program. For the past eight months, federal benchmarks in the Medicaid programs have been met and exceeded.
With the help of the additional positions added to the department over the last two budget periods, caseloads have become manageable and requirements to maintain federal benchmarks have become attainable.
Food and Nutrition Services (FNS)
The federal requirement for timeliness processing of FNS applications and re-certifications is 95%. We have been maintaining a timeliness rate over the past year between 97-99%
Medicaid
The federal requirement for processing of Medicaid applications is 90%. This is also known as the Medicaid Report card. Since April 2017, we have met the required metrics.
