BACKGROUND

Background

DHHS - Public Health Division has been awarded a grant from The Duke Endowment in the amount of $88,261 for the period January 1, 2018 to June 30, 2018, to fund two (2) new Nurse I positions for the Nurse Home Visitation Program. Public Health has offered nurse home visits to all deliveries throughout Guilford County since 2001. We adopted the Family Connects model in 2015, which aims to engage with families and offer support with the challenges of having a newborn and promotes a more comprehensive approach that allows optimal matching and follow through of families with community services. With a current delivery rate of 6,000 per year, the addition of these two nurse positions will increase staff FTE’s to 11.6 and increase the number of nurse visits. Public Health will receive an additional amount of $172,007 for the 2018-19 fiscal year (July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019) to continue to fund these positions.
