BACKGROUND

Background

On December 12, 2017, the Board of Education (BOE) approved the transfer of $290,501 to the Smith High School Physical Education Improvements project ordinance from the following project ordinances:

 

Allen Middle School                                                                                    $215,838

Archer Elementary School                                                               $14,026

George C. Simkins, Jr. Elementary School                     $680

Herbin-Metz Education Center                                                               $1,584

Northwood Elementary School                                                               $58,373

 

This transfer is necessary for the completion of two scope items. The first is the demolition and replacement of the visitors’ stadium bleachers. The second is the installation of lighting at the track and practice field. The cost to complete both scopes of work is estimated to be $763,201. The current available balance in the project is $473,214.

Requested Action

Approve attached amended Allen Middle School (decrease existing), Archer Elementary School (decrease existing), Southeast Area Elementary School (George C Simpkins, Jr Elementary School; decrease existing), Herbin-Metz Education Center (Falkener / Hairston Autism Wing; decrease existing), Northwood Elementary School Kitchen Renovation / Expansion (decrease existing), and Smith High School - Athletic Renovation (increase existing) capital project ordinances as outlined in the attachments.  These transfers will provide the funding for the demolition and replacement of the visitors’ stadium bleachers and the installation of track and practice field lighting at Smith High School.
