BACKGROUND
Background
Guilford County owns Traid Park with Forsyth County. There is a portion of the Park's land, located at 220 Pratt Rd in Kernersville, that lies in the path of the Macy Grove Road expansion project by North Carolina Department of Transportation. The purpose of this project is to reduce congestion in downtown Kernersville, provide access to a planned commercial/industrial site and provide a segment of the Kernersville Loop Road. The State of North Carolina would like to purchase 6.064 acres of land for the right of way, 0.377 acres for temporary construction easement, 0.079 acres for Permanent Drainage Easement and 0.008 acres for a Permanent Utility Easement. All of the land involved in this transaction lies within Forsyth County. The State of North Carolina had the property appraised and they have proposed a purchase price of $69,750.00 for the land and easements.

Approve the sale of a portion of the Guilford County and Forsyth County Park property located at 220 Pratt Road in Kernersville to the North Carolina Department of Transportation for the sum of $69,750.00, and authorize staff to take all reasonable and necessary steps to execute the sale of the property.
