BACKGROUND

Background

On May 7, 2015 the Board of Commissioners voted to declare as surplus properties located throughout Guilford County attained through Property Tax Foreclosure, dedication and gifting. At the direction of the Board, these properties were approved to be sold by the Sealed Bid method, as prescribed by NCGS 160A-268. On September 24, 2017, these properties were advertised for sale with Sealed Bids due on October 25, 2017 at 5:00PM. On October 26, 2017 at 9:00 AM, a public Bid Opening was held where we received bids on:

 

1509 Elmer St, Greensboro with a bid of $1,010.26, 135-137 Flemingfield Rd, Greensboro with a bid of $1,003.18 and 6750 R1 Monnett Rd, Climax with a bid of $1,020.00.

 

All of these bids met the criteria as laid out in the Advertisement for Sealed Bid, including a Deposit of at least 5% in the form of Certified Funds. The highest bidders were declared the Highest Qualified Bidders.

Requested Action

Approve the sale of surplus properties located at 1509 Elmer St, Greensboro, 135-137 Flemingfield Rd, Greensboro and 6750 R1 Monnett Rd, Climax to the current highest bidder, and authorize staff to take all reasonable and necessary steps to execute the sale of the property.
