BACKGROUND
Background
· The Guilford County Transportation Department has prepared the FY 2019 transportation grants from North Carolina Department of Transportation.
· The Enhanced Mobility for Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities and the 5311 - Community Transportation Program (CTP) 5339-Consolidated Capital Projects 5307-Urbanized Area Grant applications for FY2019 to be submitted to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (DOT) no later than November 03,2017.
· The total amount of the 5310 Grant request for FY2019 is $101,000 with a County match of $101,000.
· The total amount of the 5311 Grant request for FY2019 is $175,839 with a County match of $26,377.
· The total amount of the 5339 Grant request for FY2019 is $420,000 with a County match of $42,000.
· The total amount of the 5307 Grant request for FY2019 is $70,000 with a County match of $35,000.
The grant application for the 5310 program provides funding for salaries and vehicle maintenance expenses for the Guilford County Transportation Department. The FY2017 grant provided over 8,600 trips for the elderly and disabled citizens of Guilford County.
The 5311-CTP grant is used for administrative assistance.
The proposed FY2019 application for the 5339 grant includes the replacement of transportation vans that have met their useful life.
The 5307 grant is for transportation assistance in the urbanized area.
A public hearing is required to assess the value and need for a community transportation system and assistance to the elderly and disabled citizens of Guilford County. Attached is a summary of the grant request and authorizing resolution.
