BACKGROUND
Background
During the Guilford County Soil & Water Conservation District September 6, 2017 Regular Meeting, the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to purchase a used weed wiper using Soil and Water Conservation District Foundation funds from the Caswell Soil and Water Conservation District. This purchase will be made from the Guilford Soil & Water District Foundation account and will be available as rental equipment to the public. The opportunity to purchase the weed wiper was only recently presented to the District and the $2,000 purchase price (invoice attached) is within the Foundation account's available revenue funds. The Foundation account, by agreement with the Guilford County Board of Commissioners, is now being administered by Guilford County (as of July 1, 2017) and no longer by the NC Foundation for Soil and Water Conservation (a public non-profit tax-exempt 501(c)3, that was chartered on 4.27.99 and obtained its non-profit status on 2.22.00).
A budget amendment to appropriate $2,000 for the purchase of the equipment is presented for Board approval and an additional $500 (approved by the Guilford Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors at its Oct. 4, 2017 Regular Mtg.) also is being requested. The total requested to be appropriated is $2,500.

Requested Action
Approve an increase of $2,500 in Other Revenues and increase the FY 2017-18 Soil & Water Conservation budget by the same amount towards an equipment purchase by the Guilford County Soil & Water District from its Foundation account.
