BACKGROUND
Background
Voluntary Agricultural Districts (VAD) and Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural Districts (EVAD) were developed by the NC Department of Agriculture to encourage the preservation and protection of farmland from non-farm development.
During its September 18th, 2017 meeting the Guilford County Agricultural Advisory Board approved the following application:
1.VAD Application #2017-04, being 35.59 acres and comprised of two (2) Tax Parcels (#0136094 @ 5.46 acres and #0136092 @ 30.13 acres), all owned by Coltrane Dairy, LLC of Pleasant Garden, NC.
To date, approval of this application brings the total number of VAD and EVAD parcels to 367 totaling, 16,005.2 acres enrolled. Of these totals, 336 parcels comprising 14,755.21 acres are enrolled in VAD, and 31 parcels comprising 1249.99 acres are enrolled in the EVAD.
