BACKGROUND

Background

The property described above, totaling 11.933 acres, is intended for the location of a Guilford County Animal Shelter and its uses. It is currently contracted for purchase at the amounts of $385,000 for the western section of 979 Guilford College Dr (5.902 acres) and $158,300 for 926 R2 Guilford College Rd (6.031 acres), totaling $543,300. The property independently appraised for $840,000. We have completed initial Due Diligence and have not found any significant impacts upon the property.

 

The Animal Shelter Replacement capital project ordinance needs to be amended to provide funding for this purchase plus associated legal and other fees and/or charges; any funds remaining after this purchase is complete will be used for future stages of the project.

REQUESTED ACTION

Requested Action

Authorize the purchase of the property located at 979 Guilford College Dr and 926 R2 Guilford College Rd, Greensboro, NC for the amount of $543,300, contengient upon approval and authorzation of water and sewar agreement with the City of High Point; and Authorize staff to take all reasonable and necessary steps to execute the purchase of the property; and increase the County Animal Shelter Replacement capital project ordinance by $600,000 to reflect the appropriation of $600,000 of bond proceeds.
