BACKGROUND
background
On June 30, 2017, the North Carolina General Assembly enacted Session Law 2017-87, Senate Bill 155, entitled “An Act to Make Various Changes to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission Law.” The adopted bill, amended Article 6 of Chapter 153A of the General Statutes to allow for the sale of malt beverages, unfortified wine, fortified wine, and mixed beverages beginning at 10:00AM on Sunday pursuant to the licensed premises permit issued under G.S. 18B-1001, rather than the previous 12:00 Noon Sunday hour of sale. Senate Bill 155 requires that participating Counties adopt an ordinance to implement the hour of sale of 10:00AM on Sunday.

APPROVE AND ADOPT THE FOLLOWING AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 3 - ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, OF THE GUILFORD COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES AS SET OUT BELOW:
Sec. 3-3. - Hours of certain alcohol sales.
Any establishment located within Guilford County and holding an ABC permit issued pursuant to G.S. 18B-1001 is permitted to sell beverages allowed by its permit beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays in accordance with G.S. 153A-145.7.
