BACKGROUND
background
This request is for an instrumentation purchase (for the aircraft utilized by the Guilford County Sheriff's Office) in order for the plane to be flown at night. The funds will used from the Federal Forfeiture Funds (aircraft operates under Federal Forfeiture Funds.) The total purchase amount is $31,500. The Alamance County Sheriff's Office and the Randolph County Sheriff's Office have both agreed to pay equal (1/3 each) amounts of the total expenditure for this purchase so Guilford County's portion will be $10,500.00. This purchase will be paid through the Department of Treasury Federal Forfeiture Funds. Approximately $82,719 is available (including the Engine Reserve amounts) in Federal Forfeiture (Department of Treasury Funds) balance prior to this appropriation.

REQUESTED ACTION
Requested Action
Approve increases of $10,500 in appropriated fund balance (Federal Forfeiture Funds) and $21,000 in Federal/State Revenues (intergovernmental), and increase the FY 2018 Law Enforcement Budget by $31,500.00. Direct staff to take such actions necessary to secure the purchase of equipment and enter into any necessary agreements as directed by state and county policy and/or law.
