BACKGROUND
background
There are new ASTM standards, approved in July 2016, for the securing of equipment in ambulances. The number one risk to providers and patients is the stretcher becoming dislodged during transport, and is being addressed by this upgrade. The changes in the mounting system does not allow stretchers manufactured prior to 2012 to be upgraded to the new standard, without significant costs. Stretcher pricing was bid under County event #387 and the upfit requirements were bid under County event #518 for the PowerPro model 6506 stretcher with eXpanded Patient Surface (XPS) system, X strap restraints, and mounting hardware for the Performance Load restraint system.

requested action
Approve purchase with Stryker, Inc., 3800 East Centre Avenue, Portage, MI 49002, for ten (10) PowerPro stretchers and accessories for use in EMS vehicles. Stretchers and accessories were bid through Purchasing under event #387 and #518. Total purchase amount $151,994.70 ($15,199.47 each).
