BACKGROUND

Background

The proposed ordinance revision is to remove the animal control fees from chapter 5 of the ordinance and set them out in an animal control fee schedule.  Additionally, changes to the existing fees are proposed to create a differential structure to include a fee incentive for spayed/neutered pets by reducing violations of running-at-large and public nuisance by half for sterilized pets.  The differential fees were approved by the animal services advisory board.

REQUESTED ACTION

Requested Action

Hold public hearing for the purpose of considering and adopting proposed amendments to chapter 5, animals, of the Guilford county ordinances. The proposed amendments under consideration address the recommendation of revising the fee schedule to include a fee incentive for spayed/neutered pets cited for running-at-large and public nuisance and establish the fees in a separate fee schedule outside of the animal ordinance.
