RESOLUTION
Resolution
Whereas, the nation's 3,069 counties serve more than 300 million Americans by providing essential services to create healthy, safe, vibrant and economically resilient communities; and
Whereas, counties move America forward by providing health care, administration of justice, keeping communities safe, running elections, managing solid waste, keeping records and much more; and
Whereas, Guilford County and all counties take pride in their responsibility to protect and enhance the health, welfare and safety of its residents in efficient and responsible ways; and
Whereas, through National Association of Counties President Bryan Desloge’s “Brilliant Ideas at Work” initiative, NACo is encouraging counties to focus on the most innovative programs and services that strengthen communities, and
Whereas, each year since 1991, the National Association of Counties has encouraged across the Country to actively promote their own programs and services to the public that they serve; and
Whereas, Guilford County supports the 2017 theme of Brilliant Ideas at Work and continues to strive to develop and promote innovative programs and services in Guilford County.
Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Guilford County Board of Commissioners do hereby proclaim April 2017 as National County Government Month and encourages all county officials, employees, schools and residents to recognize programs and services offered through County Government.
