BACKGROUND
Background
Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services - Public Health Division has received additional funding from the Women's and Children's Health Section/Nutrition Services Branch in the amount of $25,846. This additional funding allows the local Health Department to further enhance its ability to continue with the objective of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), which is to provide supplemental nutritious foods, nutrition education, and referrals to health care for low-income persons during critical periods of growth and development. With the additional funding the total award for WIC programs for FY17 is $2,390,755.
Funds will be used for supplies, education and training and equipment.
