Resolution
HONORING THE AWARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE CENTERSTAGE YOUTH PERFORMING GROUP AT THE 2017 JUNIOR THEATRE FESTIVAL
WHEREAS, on the weekend of January 13, 2017, six thousand total youth participants from across the country gathered at the Cobb Galleria Center in Atlanta, Georgia, to compete in the Junior Theatre Festival for the highest of youth theatrical honors in the categories of acting, music, and dance; and,
WHEREAS, the Centerstage Youth Performing Group’s performance of the Lion King, Jr. captured two outstanding awards, the first being for best vocals and the second for best overall performance; and,
WHEREAS, the award received for best overall performance was selectively chosen for only six groups, out of one hundred and thirteen total troupe participants; and,
WHEREAS, the Centerstage Youth Performing Group was founded in 2006 as an elite extension of the Community Theatre of Greensboro, under the direction of Education Director Roz Fulton, and their thirty-one-member troupe, ranging from ages eight to eighteen, has been competing in the Junior Theatre Festival since 2007; and,
WHEREAS, this outstanding victory was made possible under the dedicated leadership of Director Roz Fulton, Music Director Jeannine Dumond, and Choreographer Natasha Tyler; and,
WHEREAS, the Centerstage Youth Performing Group members have rightfully earned the respect of their national competitors as well as the entire local arts community, and through their accomplishments have brought great honor and prestige to the Community Theatre of Greensboro and the Guilford County community.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Guilford County Board of Commissioners, that we wish to express our heartfelt praises to the 2017 Centerstage Youth Performing Group members for their significant achievement and com...
