BACKGROUND
Background
Guilford County competitively solicited bids on Bur-Mil Park Clubhouse HVAC Renovations and Chiller Replacement as Event #546. The event received four (4) bid responses as listed below:

Bar Construction Base Bid - $830,500 Alternate #1 - $57,000 Alternate #2 - $ 4,000 MWBE - $28,550
J Wayne Poole Base Bid - $808,000 Alternate #1 - $77,000 Alternate #2 - $10,000 MWBE - $0
S&S Building Base Bid - $961,586 Alternate #1 - $72,211 Alternate #2 - $13,700 MWBE - $33,550
Superior Mech Base Bid - $719,357 Alternate #1 - $45,000 Alternate #2 - $ 9,000 MWBE - $71,350

*Alternate #1: Remove and replace the existing chiller and related work
*Alternate #2: Remove and replace one of the existing 2-ton mini-split AC units serving the kitchen and related work

After a committee reviewed the four (4) bid responses, it was determined that Superior Mechanical Services, Inc. was the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder. It is recommended a contract be awarded to Superior for the following amount:

Base Bid $719,357
Alternate #1 $ 45,000
Contingency $ 30,643

Total $795,000

The acceptance of alternate #2 is not recommended at this time.

The Bur-Mil Clubhouse capital project currently includes $500,000 in funding for interior renovations to the entryway/area, main hallway, and banquet room; approximately $12,700 of this total is remaining. To complete this project , the project ordinance needs to be increased by $783,000 to $1,283,000 total; this increase will be funded with Capital Building Construction Fund fund balance in accordance with the adopted FY 2017-26 Capital Improvement Plan ($450,000) and a transfer from the High Point Parking Deck Repairs capital project ($333,000) which had final expenses lower than projected...
