BACKGROUND

Background

Voluntary Agricultural Districts (VAD) and Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural Districts (EVAD) were developed by the NC Department of Agriculture to encourage the preservation and protection of farmland from non-farm development.

During its November 21, 2016 meeting the Guilford County Agricultural Advisory Board approved the following applications:

1.                     VAD Application #2016-10, being  51.67 acres and comprised of 1 Tax Parcel (#0120175 @51.67 acres), all owned by Kelly M. Shepherd of Gibsonville, NC.

2.                     VAD Application # 2016-11, being 28.17 acres and comprised of 1 Tax Parcel (0107618 @28.17 acres), all owned by Jacob Kirby Shepherd of Gibsonville, NC.

To date, approval of this application brings the total number of VAD and EVAD parcels to 362 totaling, 15,791.31 acres enrolled.  Of these totals, 332 parcels comprising 14,592.68 acres are enrolled in VAD, and 30 parcels comprising 1198.63 acres are enrolled in the EVAD.
