BACKGROUND
Background
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will be initiating safety improvements to Groometown Road in Greensboro. The improvement project will consist of closing two (2) existing driveways that currently provide access to the Hardin Oil Property from Groometown Road, which are currently too close in proximity to the ramp of Interstate 85. The existing driveway of the Hardin Oil property accessing Wiley Davis Road will be moved further away from the Groometown Road and Wiley Davis Road intersection. The NCDOT contingency funds will be used to pay for the safety improvements listed above.

RESOLUTION SUPPORTING NCDOT SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS
FOR SR 1129 GROOMETOWN ROAD
WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation will be performing safety improvements to SR 1129 (Groometown Road); and
WHEREAS, the requested improvements consist of closing two existing driveways that currently provide access to the Hardin Oil property from Groometown Road which currently are too close in proximity to the ramp of Interstate 85; and
WHEREAS, the existing driveway of the Hardin Oil property accessing Wiley Davis Road will be relocated further away from the Groometown Road and Wiley Davis Road intersection; and
WHEREAS, all funds associated with the safety improvements of SR 1129 (Groometown Road) will be provided through the NCDOT Contingency Funds; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Guilford County Board of Commissioners that it hereby provides its support of the safety improvements set forth for SR 1129 (Groometown Road).
