BACKGROUND
Background
The Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA) of 1986 requires state and local jurisdictions to maintain a Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) to coordinate and develop emergency response plans for chemical emergencies. The Guilford County LEPC is made up of representatives from public safety agencies, industry representatives, and citizens within Guilford County. The LEPC By-Laws require the Guilford County Board of Commissioners annually approve the LEPC membership before the roster is sent to the State Emergency Response Commission for final appointment.
