BACKGROUND
Background
Guilford County Citizens' Academy is a unique educational opportunity for Guilford County residents to gain insight on how local government works and to promote open lines of communication between citizens, elected officials and County employees. Academy sessions include:
-Introduction to Local Government in North Carolina
-Overview of the County's Organization, Strategic Plan & Budget
-Site Visits to County Departments
-Case Studies
During the 2016 Citizens' Academy, over thirty (30) participants explored how Guilford County government is organized, and how services, such as public safety, mental health, and education are funded and delivered.
