BACKGROUND
background
Guilford County Information Services department currently provides redundancy in an event of disaster at the primary Data Center at 201 W. Market St., Greensboro by replicating County data to a remote site in Winston-Salem. However, while this is effective in that it gives us a secondary location to retrieve data in case of a disaster, the time involved in recovering from such a disaster would be unacceptable for many of the "critical" applications the County relies upon, such as: files stored on the County's network, Budget system, Public Health EMR system, etc. Additionally, the cost for upkeep of the disparate systems at the remote site for EMS and all other departments in Winston-Salem, and connectivity to the primary site in Greensboro, is becoming prohibitive.

To minimize the downtime in an event of a disaster, Information Services is proposing to replicate all the data from the primary sites in Greensboro (for EMS and all other departments) in the "cloud". This service will be provided by NWN. The data backed up to NWN's Data Center(s) will be fully protected while in transition, and at rest using encryption technologies, which will be in full compliance with Law Enforcement's requirement for CJIS compliance. Additionally, some of the highlights and benefits of NWN's service includes:

o NCare Fully Managed Backup on premise and in the NCloud
o 24/7/365 monitoring/management of NCloud Platform
o Tier III SSAE-16 Data center environment with Geo-redundant capabilities

The initial contract will be for three (3) years with options for two (2) additional one-year renewals, and is based on North Carolina's City of Jacksonville convenience contract. The cost for the initial three (3) year term is $458,820, dependent upon the amount of data to back up, and the number of servers required. The amount is subject to increase or decrease...
