BACKGROUND
Background
On May 5, 2016, the Board of Commissioners approved the transfer of local and state Public School Building Capital Funds from the High Point SCALE project to the Roofing System-Wide project to replace roofs at Grimsley High School. While the total transfer amount between these two projects was correct ($254,494), adjustments need to be made to the sources of funds used for the transfer. The correct funding sources should be $190,870 of state Public School Building Capital Funds and $63,624 of funds transferred from the General Fund. The May 5, 2016 project ordinance amendment moved all of the money from state Public Schools Building Capital Funds. All funds are already in existing project ordinances, so no additional County funds are needed to complete the changes.
In addition to approving the project ordinance amendments noted above, the Board is asked to approve the application to release state Public School Building Funds for re-roofing the auditorium and main office area at Grimsley High School. Both the Board of Education and the Board of Commissioners are required to approve the application request. The Chair of the Board of Education signed the approval on September 14, 2016.
