BACKGROUND
Background
The Golden LEAF Foundation is a non-profit organization that awards grants for projects with potential to bolster North Carolina's long-term economy. Grantsmaking priority areas include economic growth & development, education, workforce development, infrastructure and agriculture. To date, Golden LEAF has funded 1,397 grants totaling over $617 million.
In FY 2017, the Foundation identified the Piedmont Triad region as a Prosperity Zone, and has budgeted $20 million to award grants to local governments and nonprofit organizations. The grantsmaking initiative is designed to target competitive projects that will benefit a wide array of citizens, while promoting economic growth and long-term development. Guilford County advertised its request for letters of inquiry beginning August 5, 2016, with a submission deadline of 5:00PM on September 6, 2016.
