BACKGROUND

Background

The Guilford County Sheriff's Office is in receipt of the 2016 Governor's Highway Safety Program Grant in the amount of $419,754.  The DWI Taskforce Program grant funds are used for sustainment of the existing multi-agency DWI Taskforce program, which addresses traffic-related issues such as: unrestrained drivers, children, and speeding; and Driving While Impaired (DWI).  This is the fifth year of funding for this program and the revenue received from the grant totals $104,939.

The grant requires a local match of $314,815, which is shared between Guilford County Law Enforcement and the High Point Police Department. The Guilford County portion of $199,690 is already included in the FY 2017 Law Enforcement budget. The High Point Police Department has also budgeted their match of $115,125 in their FY 2017 budget.
