BACKGROUND

Background

In 2015 North Carolina Emergency Management implemented an annual fee to agencies that store hazardous materials on their property.  The fee is collected by North Carolina Emergency Management during Tier II Chemical submissions and is used to offset the cost of the statewide Hazardous Materials Program.  In June 2016, Guilford County received a grant for $1,000 for the purposes of supporting the activities of the Guilford County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).  The funding is required to be spent by December 15, 2016 and is restricted to expenses supporting LEPC activities.  Due to the grant arriving in June, Guilford County was unable to add the funds to the FY2017 budget, therefore we are requesting the funding allocated to the FY2017 Emergency Services Budget.
