BACKGROUND
Background
The National Association of Counties (NACo) annual achievement award recognizes innovative county government initiatives, and approximately 110 counties and organizations were honored during the 2016 NACo Annual Conference held in Long Beach, California. Guilford County's Family Justice Center (FJC) was recognized as a transformational approach to public safety that provides integrated and coordinated services in a single location. Through a combination of community-based partnerships with local law enforcement, legal services, County Health & Human Services staff, and medical professionals; and shared financial resources of approximately $2.3 million, the FJC has improved the efficiency of, and access to, a multitude of community programs and services for child, adult and elder victims of domestic and sexual violence.
