BACKGROUND
Background
Voluntary Agricultural Districts (VAD) and Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural Districts (EVAD) were developed by the NC Department of Agriculture to encourage the preservation and protection of farmland from non-farm development.
During its July 18, 2016 meeting the Guilford County Agricultural Advisory Board approved the following application:
1. EVAD Application #2016-06, being 29.4 acres and comprised of two (2) Tax Parcels (#0216539 @ 13.52 acres and #0224094 @15.88 acres), all owned by Terri Davenport Taffer of Summerfield, NC.
These two (2) parcels were previously part of a larger parcel and previous VAD application #03-12 approved on March 16, 2006 which consisted of one Tax Parcel being #10-6-360-777N @ 118.85 acres. With this EVAD application, this parcel (#10-6-360-777N) was withdrawn from the VAD program by the VAD Board on July 18, 2016 due to change in ownership.
To date, approval of this application and VAD withdrawal bring the total number of VAD and EVAD parcels to 357 totaling, 15,530.30 acres enrolled. Of these totals, 327 parcels comprising 14,331.67 acres are enrolled in VAD, and 30 parcels comprising 1198.63 acres are enrolled in the EVAD.
