BACKGROUND
Background
Correct Care Solutions (CCS) provides comprehensive medical services to inmates housed in Guilford County Detention Facilities. Medical services provided by CCS include intake screening, history and physical exams, dental services, rountine sick call and examination, emergency medical treatent, prescription medication and pharmacy services, and mental health care.

CCS currently provides 16 hours/week (divided between the Guilford County Jail Central in Greensboro and High Point Detention Center) of psychiatric care and 74 hours (divided between Guilford County Jail Central in Greensboro and High Point Detention Center) of Mental Health Professional (MHP) care through the services of a certified counselor. The current contract includes on-call hours, but has no provision for night or weekend coverage by a psychiatrist or MHP.

The Sheriff's office is requesting the current contract with CCS be amended to expand the current provision of mental health services to the inmate population in Guilford County Detention Facilities as described below:

- Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner: 20 hours / week $100,970 / year
- Licensed Mental Health Counselor: 36 hours / week $76,630 / year
- All evening hours, including 16 hours / week at
Guilford County Jail Central

TOTAL $177,600 / year

The effective peiod of the contract will run from May 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017 and the total cost of this amendment over that time is not to exceed $207,200 or $14,800 a month. This works out to $29,600 in FY 2016 and $177,600 in FY 2017. Sandhills has agreed to reimburse the County for the expanded cost of this service so the contract amendment will require no additional county dollars.
