BACKGROUND

Background

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program is administered through the Bureau of Justice Assistance.  This grant is a joint application between the Cities of Greensboro, High Point and Guilford County.  This grant may be used for various criminal justice purposes to enhance public safety.  The 2021 award allocation for the Guilford County Sheriff's Office is $73,713.40.

 

The Guilford County Sheriff's Office is requesting this award be appropriated to the FY 2021-21 Law Enforcement budget to replace two (2) fully marked Dodge Charger patrol cars, including: decals, door panels, window guards and prisoner petitions.

REQUESTED ACTION

Requested Action

Approve an interlocal agreement, in substantial form, with the City of Greensboro and the City of High Point towards joint application and award of the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program.  Approve an increase of $73,714 in Federal/State Revenues and increase the FY 2021-22 Law Enforcement budget by the same amount to reflect receipt of Guilford County's allocation of the 2021 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG), that will be used towards the replacement of two (2) fully marked patrol vehicles for the Sheriff's Office.
