BACKGROUND
Background
The Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) - Public Health Division Bid event 501 was released and the County received three (3) proposals. After evaluation, it was determined the contract should be awarded to Carolinas IT, Inc., in the amount of $191,699, which includes $163,900 for the purchase of the Electronic Health Records (EHR) Practice Management System - CureMD Solution - and $27,800 for the second and third year of maintenance and support. The contract will begin May 1, 2016 and end on February 28, 2019, for a total of thirty-six (36) months.
County staff recommend purchase of the CureMD Solution with Information Technology Advisory Committee (ITAC) funds. CureMD Solution is an EHR Practice Management System which would be used to replace current the County's current EHR system, Practice Partner Solution, that is approaching its end of life. Unlike Practice Partner, the CureMD program provides integration with the State Health Information System (HIS) and Health Information Exchange (HIE), and is currently used in 42 of the 100 counties. Carolinas IT, Inc. is an approved EHR vendor for North Carolina Public Health facilities and it is estimated annual support costs will decrease by 75% through the CureMD program.
