BACKGROUND
background
The Greensboro Courthouse has elevators that are in need of refurbishment. They have aged to the point where the cost of repair and disruption of service is a problem for court operations. The repair and refurbishment of all elevators at both courthouses was put out for competitive bid.
Delaware Elevator Carolinas was the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. Their pricing is shown below:
Greensboro Courthouse $ 1,031,180.00
Alternate 1: $ 20,000 for Remote Maintenance Monitoring
Alternate 2: $ 45,000 for a new emergency return unit
Total: $1,096,180.00 including alternates. Delaware Elevator will be self-performing the work.
Delaware Elevator has committed to procure supplies from MWBE suppliers for a 13.04% MWBE participation.
After review of the bids, staff recommends the acceptance of all alternates and the award of both scopes of work to Delaware Elevator.
Staff also recommends including $90,000.00 Owner’s Contingency in the contract. The Owner’s Contingency is only to be used by the authorization of Guilford County Facilities for unforeseen conditions that are found during construction. This project is expected to begin in late December and be completed in 365 days.
