PROCLAMATION
Proclamation
WHEREAS, during National Caregivers Month we recognize more than 90 million people in the United States who serve as caregivers, with generous hearts and faithful devotion, and;
WHEREAS, over 5 million of these are parents, spouses, siblings and friends caring for wounded, injured and ill American service members and veterans; and
WHEREAS, these caregivers play an essential role in ensuring the service member, veteran or citizen is able to live a better quality life, which can result in faster and improved rehabilitation and recovery; and
WHEREAS, family, military and veteran caregivers play an essential role in ensuring the health and wellbeing of those in their care - managing medications, doctor appointments and balancing work and home; and
WHEREAS, these men and women spend their days caring for family members, service members and veterans while balancing the responsibilities of their own lives, including employment and raising children; and
WHEREAS, an alarming number of military and veteran caregivers suffer debilitating mental physical and emotional effects as a result of their caregiving responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, organizations like the Elizabeth Dole Foundation have started the Hidden Heroes initiative to offer resources and support to caregivers; and
WHEREAS, caregiving is overwhelming and with the responsibility of caregivers in our country growing every year, it is important to encourage family, military and veterans caregivers and to provide unending support as they carry on this important work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Guilford County Board of Commissioners proclaims the month of November 2025 as NATIONAL CAREGIVERS MONTH and urges all residents to recognize and support those serving in these vital roles within our community, and to observe this month with...
