RESOLUTION
Resolution
WHEREAS, Government Communicators Day was created on February 24, 2022, a day dedicated to recognizing the outstanding efforts of public communicators that is recognized annually on the third Friday of February; and
WHEREAS, the role of government communications professions is to inform, educate, and engage their communities; and
WHEREAS, effective communication in government fosters understanding, trust, and collaboration with the public; and
WHEREAS, government communicators form community relationships and calls to action, build awareness and understanding through storytelling, engage and foster engagement on civic issues and use all channels to include people in critical decisions; and
WHEREAS, it is essential to have strong communications in government because it is a foundational element of living in a democracy where citizens have the freedom to make their voice heard; and
WHEREAS, Guilford County has deep gratitude and recognition for its own county Communications staff throughout multiple departments for their professionalism, dedication, hard work, commitment, enthusiasm, and sacrifice; and
WHEREAS, Guilford County Communicators model excellence every day as they uphold the County Core Value of Transparency and Communication; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Guilford County Board of Commissioners hereby proclaim February 20, 2026, as Government Communicators Day, and commend its observance to all citizens.
