RESOLUTION
Resolution
WHEREAS, volunteers are the heart of strong communities, generously giving their time, talents, and compassion to support neighbors, strengthen organizations, and improve the quality of life for all residents of Guilford County; and
WHEREAS, throughout Guilford County, dedicated volunteers serve on citizen advisory boards, nonprofit organizations, community groups, and countless initiatives that support children, families, seniors, and individuals in need; and
WHEREAS, volunteerism inspires civic engagement and demonstrates that by working together, communities can meet challenges, build stronger connections, and create meaningful opportunities for service and collaboration; and
WHEREAS, Guilford County recognizes the many individuals who step forward to serve their community and acknowledges that their commitment helps advance the County’s mission of fostering a thriving, inclusive, and supportive community for all; and
WHEREAS, National Volunteer Week, observed annually in April, provides an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of volunteers while encouraging continued service and community involvement throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, Guilford County remains committed to promoting volunteerism among its residents, businesses, nonprofit partners, and civic organizations, recognizing that volunteer service strengthens community pride, participation, and shared responsibility.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the Guilford County Board of Commissioners hereby declares the week of April 19-25 as Volunteer Appreciation week in Guilford County, and encourages all residents to recognize and celebrate the many individuals who give their time in service to others, and to consider opportunities to volunteer and make a difference in our community.
