BACKGROUND
Background
Emergency Services is looking to purchase replacement quick response vehicles. After a thorough analysis of the existing fleet, taking into consideration the mileage and condition of each vehicle, it was determined that the highest priority was for three (3) Ford F150 trucks and four (4) Ford Police Interceptors. Pricing for the Ford F150 with 4 wheel drive and an extended cab was $50,133.33 per vehicle, and the Ford Police Interceptor was $44,164.15 per vehicle. The total commitment for the purchase is $327,056.59. Emergency Services worked with Purchasing staff and secured pricing through the NC Sheriff's Association purchasing collaborative with Parks Ford, located at 601 Duncan Hill Rd., Hendersonville, NC 28792. This requested purchase has been reviewed and approved by the MWBE Department.

Vehicle replacement funding was presented during the Board of Commissioners' work session on July 18, 2024 and funding in the amount of $1,665,000 was appropriated to Emergency Services during the Board's September 5, 2024 regular meeting. The Board adopted a reimbursement resolution and the County will seek financing for these items at a future date. This action is consistent with the information presented in these items. As part of the FY 2024-25 adopted budget and vehicle plan, $45,000 was approved to add a Fire Plans Examiner related to school construction projects.
