BACKGROUND

Background

Voluntary Agricultural Districts (VAD) and Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural Districts (EVAD) were developed by the NC Department of Agriculture to encourage the preservation and protection of farmland from non-farm development.

 

During its August 21, 2017 meeting, the Guilford County Agricultural Advisory Board approved the following application:

 

1.                     ENHANCED VAD Application #2017-03, being 51.36 acres and comprised of one (1)

Tax Parcel (#0101026) @ 51.36 acres, all owned by Bryant Lee Sockwell of Elon, NC.

 

To date, approval of this application brings the total number of VAD and EVAD parcels to 365, totaling 15,969.61 acres enrolled. Of these totals, 334 parcels comprising 14,719.62 acres are enrolled in VAD and 31 parcels comprising 1249.99 acres are enrolled in the EVAD.
