BACKGROUND
Background
The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is in receipt of the 2021 Governor’s Highway Safety Program Grant for a DWI Task Force in the amount of $160,440. The grant includes $112,308 in revenue and requires a local match of 30% or $48,132. DWI Task Force Program grant funds are used to sustain the existing DWI Task Force Program. This program addresses traffic-related issues such as unrestrained drivers and children, speeding, motorist driving while impaired, and the community educational aspect of these issues. These funds will continue to support two (2) Deputy Sheriff positions and other operating expenses for the officers. This is the third year the county has received this grant funding, but the eleventh year of funding for the overall program.

Board approval of the accompanying local government resolution for the grant is also necessary.
