BACKGROUND
Background
As a collective effort which we have pursued in prior years, the City of Greensboro (on behalf of the Greensboro Police Department {GPD}), as lead applicant and primary recipient; along with Guilford County (on behalf of the Guilford County Sheriff's Office {GCSO}) and City of High Point (on behalf of the High Point Police Department {HPPD}) as sub-recipients, have applied to the United States Department of Justice-Bureau of Justice Assistance ("USDOJ-BJA") for federal funding through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant ("JAG grant"). These funds are used to purchase equipment that the law enforcement agencies cannot otherwise afford and are not part of their normal budget purchases. These expenditures are meant to enhance law enforcement service levels and increase officer safety and efficiency to reduce crime and improve the quality of life of the citizens we serve.
The grant presently before the Board for pre-approval is the FY24 iteration of the JAG. From this grant, the GCSO will receive $66,547.00. Depending on final pricing, the Sheriff's Office will fund the difference of $1,253 with existing funds.

· One (1) Data Pilot Mobile Extraction Device @ $3,000 per device = $3,000

· Four (4) Computers for Legal Process @ $1,000 per computer = $4,000
· One (1) Monitor for Legal Process @ $300 per monitor = $300
· One (1) Camera system for Transportation Vans @ $14,000 per system = $14,000
· Two (2) 8” Touchscreen Patient Monitors @ $1,300 per monitor = $2,600
· One (1) Replacement Dryer in High Point Jail @ $7,500 = $7,500
