BACKGROUND

background

The City and County have been in a joint ownership agreement for the public safety 800 MHz radio system since its inception in 1994.  Over time, a number of amendments have been promulgated between the parties, and both parties now are agreeing to revision 11.  The system is 5 of 7 years into a major system upgrade that has been previously approved by the Board of Commissioners, and further states the 50/50 ownership interests of the parties.  This will allow payment of Year 6 of the upgrade and conversion of the system to the P25 platform.
